waking sleepy docks

waking sleepy docks
The view is from my lakeside studio deck, facing west along the shore. I painted it on the second day of a self-challenge of fifty days of painting in March/April 2018. To read more about the fifty days of painting and to see a video of the lake and sunlight that day (the inspiration), click here and scroll down. While quiet now, in the summer those docks are bustling with an enthusiastic crowd who gather to enjoy the lake. I call it “the floating village” in the summer season. A more complete title for this artwork would be “The Floating Village is Quiet in Spring.” This watercolor is painted on Arches natural cotton cover. Image area is 6 x 9 inches, with an additional quarter inch of unpainted border with deckles top and right, soft edges bottom and left. Artwork is signed left bottom.
