pear de terre
In French, a potato is called pomme de terre, meaning literally apple of the earth. This pear feels to me like a colorful spud, so I've called it "pear of the earth."
This artwork is 100% silk habotai 8mm, dye-painted using resist and non-toxic, water-based dyes (Jacquard Red Label), and set by steam (no chemicals) for permanence.
11h x 11w inches, it was completed on November 12, 2017 and is sold unframed. Silk art looks lovely framed with a mat, under glass like any other two-dimensional art medium. Unlike my watercolors and oil paintings, my silk artworks can be hand washed or dry cleaned, and ironed on the silk setting.
Silk artwork is approximately 11 x 11 inches with a rolled hem all round.
Artwork is signed at right bottom.
