inspired silks

texture, color, pattern, and form

Fall landscape is all about color and texture in abundance.

I pick up leaves everywhere I go.
Pressed in old phone books, the leaves become my stencils and stamps for texture and form. I love to make impressions from actual leaves.

I'm noticing this year that the leaves from one tree vary greatly. No two are identical it seems.

Beautiful.

unlikely colors of fall

Unusual seasonal color inspires me to expand my palette beyond the obvious fall hues. I wish I could paint every day of the year.

collected over time and travel

Ideas and sketch books studies long out-live the seasons. They look beautiful in the current mix of dye-colors.

Here below are Carolina sand dollars - brought back from a spring trip to Charleston, South Carolina. They take on a fresh, new aquatic look in hydrangea violets and blues.
