collection purchase

The City of Tacoma just purchased my monoprint entitled "Hope: Waiting Without Walls" (pictured to right) for the Tacoma Power Art Collection." The artwork will be displayed in the Tacoma Public Utilities Administration Building located at 3628 South 35th Street, Tacoma, WA 98409. I am grateful to the City of Tacoma for this purchase.

current work

I am presently working on three small silk commissions and one mountain landscape painting in oils. Completion of one larger silk mural is in the works for January.

alaskan birch artwork commissioned in glass

Bear Mountain Birch Glass - 197.5w x 38h x 1/4d inches. Photo by Peter & Lisa Torkelson

This site required a child-safe and elegant barrier between the loft and room below. This photo shows just one-third of over 40 linear feet of carved glass I created for this site (total $25,000). Art imagery is five etches/layers deep. “Birch” is a strong theme throughout the architecture and décor of this Alaska home at the foot of Bear Mountain. I enjoyed creating the entire work onsite using the trees, leaves, and mountains as models.

helping african children

My artwork will be displayed and for sale on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at the Inman Adoption Auction. Fifteen percent of my sales will be donated to help adopt or assist orphans in Africa. My dear friends are in the process of adopting (I believe) two boys from Sudan.
