a beautiful start to 2015

My new-ish tradition the past few years now has been to kayak on New Year's Day. And it was a positively cheerful, and gloriously sunny January first on Offut Lake.

Beautiful day!

A few nights below freezing put a skin of ice on buckets. But the lake didn't freeze.

Ten swans-a-swimming visited the lake for a few days. Likely their usual winter grounds were iced over.

Curious and festive decorations on the lake mid-winter...

Sunshine and smooth waters invited other adventurers outside this day.
